Dave Austin, Founder and President of Lift & Care Systems, Inc. in Lakeville, MA has recently been honored at the 22nd Conference Rhode Island Independent Living in Providence, Rhode Island, where he received the Steven A. Hook Memorial Award. The award is presented annually to the person whose contributions Dedication Disability illustrate professional Steven Hook.

The conference theme: Live Your Best Life at home, work and play well could be the motto of Lift & Care Systems, Austin, where the goal is to provide the best quality of life for people with disabilities, helping to preserve the dignity, freedom and independence as possible.

Almost 16 years ago, when Austin began to explore the market SureHands ceiling mounted lifts, he found was incredible community of people with mobility problems with different levels of needs. Austin quickly learned that compassion, wit and a touch of innovative construction techniques were needed to design custom solutions for new customers. Over the years, Lift & care products line has been expanded, with Austin firsthand knowledge of the needs, desires, and loves the people it serves and their families and carers.

Independent living with peer support is the aim of the Conference of Independent Living: Learning to live life to the fullest extent possible with a disability. The conference is sponsored by PARI Independent Living Center, the Office of Rehabilitation Services, Oscillation (Ocean State Center for Independent Living), National Multiple Sclerosis Society – Rhode Island Chapter, Association for the Rehabilitation of Rhode Island, Rhode Island Statewide Independent Living Council Corliss Institute, Inc. Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island and Rhode Island Commission on Deaf and Hard of Hearing.

SureHands Lift Systems
The SureHands ceiling lift system allows thousands of users with disabilities to have easier access to databases of bed, bathroom or toilet. It is also incredibly able to help people with disabilities in everyday tasks such as changing clothes, standing and walking, or even take a bath or riding.
