(UK), I am in O2 delivery, how can I make a conference call on my Nokia 7373?

My phone has an option purchase the conference, but when I try to do first is put on hold only the second person can not hear below. How to do it correctly? Is it 'because I must be on contract with O2, or what? Can I make conference calls if I am sharing system? Any help is appreciated, thanks.
